Wonder when ISA V5 will GA and how to convert the current product add-ons. Hopefully the ISA V5 can reuse the product add-ons written for v4.

Re: When will ISA V5 GA?2012-04-16T20:34:17Z in response to SamuelWuHello Samuel,
Regarding the GA date of ISA 5.0, for legal reasons we cannot disclose dates of when we might release a product. If we do make an official statement, we will update this forum, with that information.
As far as the ISA add-on, IBM's direction is to move away from the terminology of add-ons as was used in the ISA V4 Workbench. The product tools are being integrated into ISA 5.0 rather than being separate "add-ons". ISA V4 product add-ons are not necessarily migrated to ISA V5.0. Product Information that use to be accessible through Product add-ons are now available directly through IBM's Support Portal. Additionally, ISA's add-on data collection strategy has moved to a more simple portable collector. Portable collectors such as "IBM Support Assistant Data Collector," formally known as "IBM Support Assistant Lite", are a lighter solution and can be set up on remote systems such that a user can access it via an ssh or remote terminal session and execute it via a shell interface. IBM Support Assistant Data Collector also allows HTTP interface through your browser for data collection on the target system and is integrated into the ISA V5.0 application. This does provide an integrated solution more like with the workbench, however it is less overhead and you may opt to leverage "IBM Support Assistant Data Collector" packages for remote collection in a production environment.

Re: When will ISA V5 GA?2012-04-16T21:28:45Z in response to RickyHolcombThank you, Ricky, for the information. I'm still not quite clear on how the product specific data are going to be collected. For instance, how to collect a generated trace file on the workstation side or on the remote host side. Is there a brief introduction on what the product should do to support v5?
I tried to run the v5, but got the following exception.

When I unzip isa-5.0.0.techpreview-win.zip, I was prompted for password for a few files. Since I don't have the password, I skipped them. Wonder whether that caused the problem.

Re: When will ISA V5 GA?2012-04-16T22:37:26Z in response to SamuelWuHi Samuel,
Once you get ISA5 tech preview up and running. You will see a tab in the browser that says "Data Collector". In that tab will be the new "IBM Support Data Collector" that will allow you to run a collection using the browser for which ever system you are on. Lets say that you have ISA5 installed on system "A" and want to collect data for system "B". You can open the browser on System "B" and point to the ISA5 server on system "A" and then choose the Data Collector tab and collect the data for System "B", you can then choose to FTP that data to system "A" after the collection is completed, if System "A" has a FTP server installed. The other option is to download the Data Collector from the browser and transfer it to the system you want to collect data on. You way what to see this link which gives you access direct access to the IBM Support Assistant Data Collector (http://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/isa/isadc/2.0/isacoreweb/2.0.1/isadc/lang/en/index.html). Please note that we only have a few collectors at this time, as this is a fairly new collector tool.
You may want to try using 7zip to extract the files, also make sure that you extract them to the root directory (Example: "C:\"). I know that there are some file path length issue when attempting to extract with Windows if root was not used.
Please let me know if you have any further question!
