Pinned topic AIX migration

‏2012-04-13T06:21:11Z |
Hi,

I am trying to migrate AIX 5.3 to AIX 6.1(6100–07). Please suggest me what are the issues and impact I will be facing during the migration.

I am looking for general issues which need to be documented before going for actual migration.
Thanks.

it is very easy process when you do it with nimadm - I did it many of times

just organize free drive to do it (or unmirror existing rootvg one)

with nimadm method you minimize downtime only to reboot new migrated AIX from auxiliary drive you used for migration

another big benefit of it is that you don't damage original OS - so you can quickly boot it again from it's drive in case you forgot something planning migration

maybe currently it is also supported with multibios - I didn;t check it but please have a look here:
