Pinned topic IBM x3650 7979 RSA board on debian squeeze. -- getting a black console

‏2012-04-10T17:06:14Z |
I am trying to setup debian squeeze on the ibm x3650 7979.
After I install it, I do not get the login console prompt on the server.
I do however get the gdm3 gui for X windows.
Could the console be showing up on the RSA Board ?
I have tried to setup a userid and password on the RSA Board - but I am unable to login.
Do I need a special key to activate the RSA board ? what is the IMM ??
I would just like to see the debian login prompt so i can trouble shoot server issues as they arise.
any book or article or how to would of great help -

Did you reset the BIOS settings to default? This article suggests that you do that to avoid problems. I would reset the BIOS and repeat the installation.

Let us know how that goes. With luck, that will do it. If not then we'll have to delve a bit more.

the bios set to default did not work.
Is there anything else I can do or try ?
I can not seem to find the libusb or libusb-devel for debian.
Do you know where i can get source code to compile - what are the steps to compile?
    thanks

You should try resetting the BIOS and repeating the installation. As far as I know, I don’t think there are libusb and libusb-devel packages for debian. You can find sites that will help you compile the source code over the internet.
