Pinned topic Conversion of COLD documents into Tiff

‏2012-04-04T08:13:17Z |
Hi,

We need to migrate Filenet from IS 4.1.1 to Filenet P8. We have some COLD documents. Can someone help us by sharing information about conversion of .FOB documents into tiff files.

Thanks in advance for help.

Hi SysAdmin, did you get this figured out? If so how did you do it?

      Hi, jaybowen.

I wonder the process program, too. I am also testing about another Tiff converter offered by a 3rd party Tiff processing SDK. Do you have any ideas about it? Or any good suggestion? Thanks in advance.

      Best regards,
      Arron

        Hi Arronlee,

In my case I added the IDM viewer ocx/control to a winform and used the retrieve to cache method to ensure the document is local, then I used the viewer method to open the IS ID (f_doc number), then used the viewer SAVE AS or PRINT method to render the document to a flat file. I downloaded a freeware print to PDF product which does not prompt for file names so using the viewer.Print() will convert the document to PDF and save the resulting document as f_docnumber.pdf.  In the PDF print product you can specify the save directory, file names, format, etc.

There are routines / classes in the IDM toolkit for image conversion and such, but once I started working with this approach with the PDF output and no other licensing this is a good solution. Of course I dislike opening documents in unmanaged code and potential for errors is higher but these are old API's too....

Let me know if you need a code snippet...

        Thank you,

        Jay

          Hello,

If you don't mind I would like to get you cde snippet. Basically, I am doing the same thing but I cannot find how to call the saveas method using the IdmViewer ocx.

          Thank you,

          Olivier
