Pinned topic ClearCase and JDeveloper 11.1.2

‏2012-03-27T09:20:47Z |
A development team is developing a Java application with Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.2.
I've been asked to investigate the possibility to integrate their development environment with CC, so I need to retrieve some pieces of information in order to evaluate whether it is possible and what are its costs and limitations.
I hope that anybody who has already set up this integration can ask these questions:

1) IBM does not support CC-JDeveloper integration, but Oracle does, right?
2) which versions of CC are supported for integration with JDeveloper 11.1.2?
3) is UCM supported?
4) what are the known limitations of the integration?

Thanks in advance.

I found out by myself some answers:

    1) IBM does not support CC-JDeveloper integration, but Oracle does, right?
Yes, support is only provided by Oracle.

    2) which versions of CC are supported for integration with JDeveloper 11.1.2?
CC 7.0.x; not 7.1.x and later.

I am stil missing answers to questions 3 and 4.
Anyway, as CC 7.0.x is no longer supported by IBM, we'll try to (manually?) integrate CC 7.1.2 with JDeveloper.
    Any suggestion is welcome.

I have configured the CC-JD integration on test machine.
Actually, the integration looks very basic.
If you try installing the CC extension for JD, JD only verifies that CC is already installed on your machine: it checks for the existence of the cleartool executable; if it doesn't find it, the installation of the extension fails.
Then, when you launch the CC extension, JD only asks you for a view to select as the local repository for versioned code.
So, I suppose that there are not real limitations, simply because the integration is very basic.

So from what i gathered from your posting is that CC and JDev CAN integrate but is not supported. Am i right to say that?
May I know what is not supported?

If I am using CCv8, can it integrate with JDev?

The integration is supported by Oracle, but not by IBM.
I can say nothing about CC v8, as I integrated JD with CC v7.1.2, but, if the integration is as simple as I suppose, it should integrate too with JD.
Then, you should verify whether Oracle supports the integration also for CC v8.
