Are there any open source tools to monitor the WebSphere application server and the applications deployed into it ?

You could also use jconsole along with JDK to connect the server to monitor it via mbeans.
If you are ask WebSphere Application Server instead of WebSphere Application Server Community Edittion, you need to pop your question to WebSphere Application Server to get prompt response.
