I have installed rational purify, and I also imported the licence file successfully.
In addition, I considered the points mentioned about environmental variables mentioned in this page:
But, when I click on purify icon, nothing shows up (purify would not be launched)!!
Do, I need to install anything like "License Server"?
Furthermore, when I go through the following process:
1. Open the IBM Rational License Key Administrator from the Windows
2. Settings -> License Usage Mapper
3. The "License Usage Mapper" dialog will be displayed. In the
list on the left, nothing is shown!!
It means I have not installed anything!!!
Your help would be greatly appreciated!

1. What version of Purify are you using? Is this a trial copy
or a purchased copy?
2. Are you on 64-bit Windows 7 by any chance?
3. Are you using remote desktop to access the box where Purify
> Installed Products list on the left, nothing is shown!!
Don't worry about this. I can't say exactly when this list gets
populated, but I've seen cases where you have to start Purify
before it shows up in the list. In any case, this probably is
NOT the cause of the Purify window not showing up.
Re: Installing purify2012-02-29T22:18:36Z in response to SystemAdminThanks Don for your quick response.
1. I installed :
IBM Rational PurifyPlus for Windows V6.16 English Japanese eAssembly
which is freely available in academic initiative program.
2. My windows is 32-bit
3. I am not using remote access
Re: Installing purify2012-02-29T22:24:26Z in response to amindehghanianHi Amin,
Note that version 6.16 is rather old (released in October 2006),
and may not support newer operating systems or newer versions of
Visual Studio, etc. You indicate that you are using a 32-bit
version of Windows. That's good, but what Windows OS is it? The
6.16 version of PurifyPlus supported:
• Microsoft Windows XP Professional, No Service Pack, Service Pack 1, 2
• Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, Service Pack 2, 3, 4
• Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Service Pack 2, 3, 4
• Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Service Pack 2, 3, 4
• Microsoft Server 2003 Standard Edition, No Service Pack, Service Pack 1
• Microsoft Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, No Service Pack, Service Pack 1
• Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Workstation, Service Pack 6a + SRP
Are you using one of those?
Re: Installing purify2012-02-29T22:33:46Z in response to SystemAdminThanks for you quick answers again!
Sorry, I forgot it!
My OS is Windows 7 ultimate!
The version version 6.16 was only version I could download from IBM website.
Can I download a newer version according to academic initiative program?
Re: Installing purify2012-02-29T22:43:07Z in response to amindehghanianHi Amin,
Unfortunately, you need PurifyPlus version 7.0.1 iFix 001
or higher in order to run on Windows 7 Ultimate and that
version is not available through the Academic Initiative
There is a trial copy of PurifyPlus 7.0.1 iFix 001 that is
available for download, BUT this version has limited
functionality. For example, Purify may report a memory
leak, but it won't give you enough details for you to track
down the leak. However, for academic purposes, this version
might be sufficient. You can grab a copy here:
P.S. No license is required to use the trial software.
Re: Installing purify2012-03-01T00:13:19Z in response to SystemAdminThanks Don!
I installed it!
Unfortunately, it has very limited features.
Actually, it just says there is a memory leakage, nothing more :(
Is there anyway I can just check a specific part of my code with this trial version?

If purchasing a copy of Purify (roughly $800) is out
of the question, your best bet is to find yourself a
Windows XP machine where you can install the 6.16
version of PurifyPlus for Windows that you have. If
you choose to do this, just be sure you've built your
application using a supported version of Microsoft
Visual Studio. The 6.16 version of Purify supported
up to Visual Studio 2003.
Re: Installing purify2012-02-29T22:29:56Z in response to amindehghanianOne more point,
Actually, it was showing up, but the problem was that I got the error that pureWQ.dll not found.
So, I went to the environmental variable PATH, and I set it to the associated directory "C:\Program Files\Rational\Common".
After this, it has not shown up at all.
Right now, even if I remove "C:\Program Files\Rational\Common" from PATH, it does not show up!
I also re-installed it several times, and nothing was solved!
