Pinned topic RHEL 5.7 panic with lin_tape

‏2012-02-14T19:39:33Z |
Have duplicated a situation seen at various sites by installing RHEL 5.7, then installing lin_tape driver 1.65. When running "cat /proc/scsi/IBMtape", RH panics. The panic seems to require many (50 +/-) IBM "tape" drives. Really VTL drives. It does not seem to occur on RHEL 5.5 or 6.x. Is there a fix for this, either lin_tape or RH? Thanks.

There is an updated version of lin_tape (v. 1.67.0). Before anything else I would make sure that you're using the latest version. It took me a while to find the right page so I'm giving you a direct link.

We are using 1.67 of lin_tape and are experiencing the same difficulty after rebooting to fix a time issue.
