Pinned topic IS-CDC a question about conversion message

‏2012-02-13T14:00:22Z |
Hi,

We are using IS-CDC on z/OS for 2 years. In production environment several subscriptions were replicating.

Source and target are on the same DB2 subsystem.

1. CDC version is: CHC9101I IBM InfoSphere CDC for z/OS V6R2M1
2. DB version is: DB2 V910
3. MC version is: 6.3.1 FP3 Interim Fix 21 (Build 6.3.1330.53)

My question is why we can read the message below while the source and target are on the same DB2 on the same subsystem?

CHC1551I Conversion between codepages 'IBM-1047' and 'UTF-8' using Unicode Conversion Services has been successfully initialized

Thank you.

Regards

That code page conversion message will always be produced, since the CDC engine internally stores it's metadata in UTF-8. If you are replicating z->z with no code page changes and no derived expressions, then no code page conversion should take place (other than for any event messages that CDC may produce).
