Pinned topic URGENT: TDS does not install on Linux x86 64 bit

‏2012-02-09T10:03:52Z |
Hi,

We have tried many ways and are not at our wits end..
Under the product group (CRC8HML) - IBM Tivoli Directory Server v6.3 Linux x86-64 (64bit), Multilingual, eAssembly (CRC8HML)

We have downloaded the .iso file: IBM Tivoli Directory Server 6.3 with entitlement (ISO File) for Linux x86-64, Multilingual (CZK9PML)

This has the Product Details:
- Details IBM Tivoli Directory Server 6.3 with entitlement (ISO File) for Linux x86-64, Multilingual
- Product description
- File name tds63-linux-x86-64.iso
- Platform(s) Linux for System x 86Series, Red Hat Entrprs Linx RHEL Base Srvr, Red Hat Entrprs Lnx RHEL Adv Pltfrm, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES)

However when we mount the iso on our linux box and run ./install_tds.bin

We always get this message:
Bundled JRE is not binary compatible with host OS/Arch or it is corrupt. Testing bundled JRE failed.

We got this message when we ran from the mounted ISO file or we downloaded the tar file for TDS extracted it and then ran it.

Upon further investigation it appears that the bundled JRE is for an AMD machine and not for an x86 machine
in the bin file you cam clearly see the bundled JRE engine name

Can someone please explain how to install TDS or provide me with a part number for an image that will actually work...

    Hi,

I'm getting the same exact error whilst installing TDS 6.3 on RHEL 6 Linux. I've downloaded the ISO twice, same error. Also with the individual tar files. Would the ibm_linux_AMD64_160_sr7.bin file work on Intel ?

I've also tried using the -is:javahome switch and setting the java_home variable but to no avail.

Hi, you'll want to try a TDS forum. This is a reporting forum.
    I had a similar problem,

I installed the libstdc++-4.4.6-4.el6.i686.rpm package off the RHEL install DVD.

    This fixed my problem.

I further diagnosed it, by extracting the install using the commands:

    root@iamdev tds# ./install_tds.bin -is:extract
3 files extracted in the directory /mnt/hgfs/Software/ISAM/tds63-linux-x86-64/tdsV6.3/tds/istemp4257347170438
    root@iamdev tds# cd /mnt/hgfs/Software/ISAM/tds63-linux-x86-64/tdsV6.3/tds/istemp4257347170438
    root@iamdev istemp4257347170438# ./ibm_linux_amd64_160_sr7.bin
bash: ./ibm_linux_amd64_160_sr7.bin: /lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory

    Hopes this helps others.

I had the same issue and I fixed this issue by installing the i686 glibc package.

    > sudo yum install glibc.i686

The installer is 32 bit and needs the 32 bit glibc files to run.

    Hi,

I had to install glibc along with nss-softokn-freebl-3.12.7-1.1.el6.i686.rpm. The installation of glibc in RHEL 6 was giving me error on the missing library.

    Thanks for sharing the solution.

    Best regards:

    Hi,

The reply to most of the queries (if not all) on this thread related to installing IBM ITDS 6.3 on RHEL6 linux can be found here :

    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21599258

All in all, you need to check the prerequisites list before installing ITDS and installation should be completed using Linux utilities.

    thanks,
    Viru
