Pinned topic Problem installing WebSphere 8 via IBM Installation Manager

‏2012-01-20T21:49:14Z |
I'm trying to install Websphere 8 through IBM Installation Manager.

I'm using this repository: http://www.ibm.com/software/repositorymanager/V8WASDeveloperILAN

I'm getting this error when I try to install:

Can not read the metadata for Fix "8.0.0.0-WS-WAS-IFPM42458
8.0.0.20110627_2052" in repository
"http://www.ibm.com/software/repositorymanager/V8WASDeveloperILAN"
Related files may be missing, or the files may be corrupted, or read access is not allowed. If this repository contains a repository.xml file it may be out of date.

Thanks for any help,
Eric

    Hi Eric,

I have successfully installed directly to v8.0.0.0 and v8.0.0.2 of WebSphere Application Server for Developers (ILAN) from the referenced repository. I included all recommended fixes. The one in the reported error message only applies to v8.0.0.0.

Can you please provide more detail on the steps you used? Are you using the Installation Manager GUI? Which version of WebSphere are you installing? Are you doing an update? Are you pointing to any other repositories in your Installation Manager preferences?

    Thanks,
    Ilene.

Thank you for reporting this situation. I was able to replicate your experience using Installation Manager v1.7.  I also tried the installation using Installation Manager versions 1.6.2 and 1.5.2, and did not have any problems. So, the issue appears to have something to do with newer versions of Installation Manager. I will investigate the cause of the issue and will try to resolve it as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, if you must have WAS Dev v8.0, then you can try using one of the earlier versions of Installation Manager to perform the installation.

Alternatively, consider installing version 8.5. or 8.5.5 of WebSphere Application Server. I was able to successfully get to the license acceptance panel for installing  these versions of WAS for Developers (ILAN) using Installation Manager v1.7.  The repository location is:   http://www.ibm.com/software/repositorymanager/V85WASDeveloperILAN
