Pinned topic Debug PL/SQL SPs and UDFs in 3.1 Full Client

‏2012-01-17T21:00:19Z |
I have a couple questions about debugging in Data Studio 3.1. I hope someone can help.

Question 1:
In debugging an SP I can see where a FETCH INTO... sets SQLSTATE = 01003, but I can't seem to find out the values of SQLWARN0 or SQLWARN1, which the DB2 documentation says I need to check.

Is there anyway in a PL/SQL SP to get these and other SQLDA values? I can't even seem to get the value of SQLCODE, although the debugger appears to show it to me. But I really need to find the details associated with the SQLSTATE value(s). (I don't seem to find any information about using these variables in SP or UDF code, i.e. in PL/SQL code.)

Question 2:
In my SP I have a long SELECT statement that I create and assign to a variable (and then prepare, etc.) In debug, is there a way for me to see the entire (long) SELECT statement? It seems to only show me a small portion of it (or any other varchar var).

Thanks so much,

Paul

P.S. I posted these questions in another thread that appears to have gone dead so I thought I'd start a new thread hoping to find some assistance. Sorry if this is a big no-no.

    Hi Paul,

For question 1, I need to discuss with my team and get back to you later.

For question 2, it seems to be a bug to me. However, I'm not quite clear. Can you please provide more information such as screen shot?

    thanks,

    Hung

    Hi Paul,

For your first question, we currently don't show other fields than SQLSTATE and SQLCODE. You can open a new PMR or talk to L2 to request new feature for this.

    thanks,

    Hi Hung,

Thanks for answering that question. I thought that might be the case. I'm afraid I don't know how to open a PMR or what # to call for L2 support. Can you tell me?

    Thanks,

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

There are two ways to open a PMR:

    1) Call 1-800-IBM-SERV (1-800-426-4968). Make sure that you have your IBM Customer Number (ICN) available. You should also ensure that you are entitled for Data Studio support.

    2) If you are registered to use the SR Tool, you can open the PMR electronically by visiting this website: http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/Open_service_request/Software/Information_Management/IBM_Data_Studio
    Thanks,

    Hi Paul,

I apologize, the number I provided above is our General Inquiries #. The IBM support # is 1-800-426-7378.

    Thanks,

I have a variable that can hold varchar (10000). When I run debug to look at the dynamic SQL in that variable, value gets cutoff around 256 characters. Is this because of a setting inside IBM Data Studio 3.1? Do you know how I can see the full values of that variables?

    Thanks,
    Ace

    Hi Ace,

Our Data Studio currently has limitation to show full length of varchar. We are working to remove this limitation in the near future.

    thanks,
