‏2011-11-15T19:34:52Z |
I am trying to run cell cbea simulator on my laptop using fedora 15, and it is requesting for sysroot_disk file. How can I get sysroot_disk file for the simulator or how can I build the file. It is very important. Please, help.

I have not used the Cell Simulator in many many years, but according to the user documentation (https://www-01.ibm.com/chips/techlib/techlib.nsf/techdocs/B494BF3165274F67002573530070049B/$file/SystemSim.Users.Guide.pdf) sysroot images can be found on the Barcelona Super Computing web site. For example, the Fedora sysroot rpm can be found here:

I have used the address you stated but the site seems to have been moved, its displaying "page not found" please can you help with another site or another means of getting the sysroot_disk file.
Your assistance will be highly appreciated.

Thank you very much, it indeed worked.

I have run the simulator. But I wish to run a programme located on the host machine on the simulated machine. I used the 'callthru' command but it does not run. I dont know if anything wrong. Please kindly assist.

While it has been years since I last used the Cell simulator, I can assist in getting the correct parties to respond to your posting.

What precisely is callthru not doing? Can you provide the invocation line and further details as to what happens when you invoke the callthru utility?

I am trying to run a spec benchmark on the simulator, the following are my trials:

    1. Callthru source /cpu2006/run >a.out
    2. chmod a+x a.out
    3. runspec --config=linux32-i386-gcc42.cfg --size=ref --noreportable --tune=base or peak --iterations=3 perlbench bzip2 gcc mcf gobmk hmmer sjeng libquantum h264ref omnetpp astar xalancbmk
    -bash: runspec: command not found

    1. Callthru source /cpu2006/shrc >a.out
    2. chmod a+x a.out
    3. . ./shrc
-bash: ./shrc: No such file or directory

    1. Callthru source /cpu2006/cshrc >a.out
    2. chmod a+x a.out
    3. source cshrc
    -bash: cshrc: command not found

    Sevi,

callthru writes its output to stdout, which in all the cases you show is redirected to the file a.out. If you want the file to be called something different, e.g. runspec, then you need to redirect into that file.

    Thanks.

I got the error corrected, and placed the command as follows:

    callthru source /cpu2006/shrc >shrc
    chmod a+x shrc
    . ./shr

    and the response is:
can't find the top of your spec tree: /root/bin/runspec
was not found! Please change to your CPU2006 directory and source the shrc.

I tried several things to make the simulator locate the ruspec command but to no avail. Your assistance will be once again appreciated.

The message says that the file /root/bin/runspec is missing. Did you copy this file into the simulator file system? If not, then that is your problem.
