Pinned topic IBM x226 (MSI 9151) memory upgrade

‏2011-11-02T11:01:15Z |
I`d like to upgrade memory. Banks 0-3 are filled with 1GB and 4-5 with 0,5GB. I think to change those 2x 512MB with 2x 2GB. Everywhere on the network I see DDR2 PC3200... but PC3200 means 400 MHz, while DDR2 are faster. Can I put recc/ecc "any" DDR2? I don`t have manual for this mainboard, that`s why I ask You :).

Thx for answer.

Alexander, I have the same server, but if the documentation you provided there are some inconsistencies.
    Documentation tells us that

    Install only1.8V,184-pin,double-data-rate2(DDR2),PC2-3200,registered,
    synchronousdynamicrandom-accessmemory(SDRAM)witherrorcorrecting
    code(ECC),dualinline memorymodules(DIMMs).TheseDIMMsmustbe
    compatiblewiththe latest PC2-3200SDRAMbufferedDIMMspecification.Fora
    list ofsupportedoptionsfor yourserver,goto http://www.ibm.com/pc/;then,
    selectyourcountryandnavigateto the list ofoptionsfor yourserver.

In real this server has 240 pin hynix memory 39M5811 (in my case)

    In addition

    1. Donotinstall four, 2GBdouble-rankDIMMsfor the servermaximumcapacity
    *(8GB)*configuration,the serverdoesnotsupportit.

So, is it possible to install 39M5811 into all slots and have 12 GB ?
