Pinned topic Failed to install WSRR V7.0/V7.5 on windows XP

‏2011-11-10T07:31:18Z |
hi all,

below is my installation procedure:

1.downloaded the WSRR(trial) install packages(V7.0.0.3, V7.5) from "http://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/download/search.jsp?pn=WebSphere+Service+Registry+and+Repository";

2.installed WAS V7.0.0.11 (trail) and upgraded it to V7.0.0.15 through fix packs;

3.separately installed the IM from WSRR packages;

4.then imported the WAS into IM: IM V1.4.1(from WSRR V7.0.0.3) passed, but IM V1.4.3(from WSRR V7.5) failed - the reason is IM can't find the repository of WAS;

5.continue to install the WSRR V7.0.0.3, but IM complained that WAS V7.0.0.15 and WSRR V7.0.0.3 were not matched.

My Questions:
1.To WSRR trial version, should i install WAS first? if not, how could i install WAS(WAS_SYNC) from WSRR package?

2.If you have experience in deploying the WSRR environment under linux, could you please give me some tips?

my email: helf@hundsun.com

Thanks in advance.

    I suggest you use WSRR v7.5 Trial Edition instead of the older v7003.
    The older v7003 one does not actually support WAS Trial Edition, 7.5 does.

    So Install IM 1.4.3 (or greater - 1.5 is now available here:
    https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24030152

    Install WAS v7 Trial edition
    Update it (both WAS and the WAS SDK) to fixpack 17.
    Import it into IM.
    Add a repository in IM pointing at the WSRR_v75_TRIAL_DOWNLOAD/repository directory and then click Install in IM and install BusinessSpace and WSRR into the same directory as WAS.

    Then using either the WAS Profile Management Tool or the manageprofiles command line you can create a standalone WSRR server profile.

    Cheers,

    Chris
    p.s. WSRR Trial Edition does not include WAS and you cannot install WAS using the WAS_SYNC directory, that purely contains metadata about different versions of WAS to help IM import an existing WAS install.

    hi Chris,

    thanks for your help, it's working :)

    One tip:
    check the WAS_SYNC directory to find the highest supported WAS fix pack version before upgrade or import.

    Glad its working.

    For your info you can download an updated copy of the WAS_SYNC directory from here:
    http://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/websphere/downloads/was/import/was.7.0.import.zip

    Its updated every time there is a new WAS fixpack.

    Cheers,
