Pinned topic migration of WVE 6.1.1.3 to WVE 7.0

‏2011-11-04T20:36:53Z |
Hi,

I have WVE 6.1.1.3 and WXS 7.1.0.2 embedded with WASND 7.0 in a clustered enviroment, I have to migrate WVE from version 6.1.1.3 to WVE 7.0. I have gone through infocenter links where it asks to install WASND 7.0 again on same machine, install WVE7.0, augment with new WASND 7.0 and finally use XDUpgrade script.

These steps are confusing for me I don't understand why do I need to install WASND7.0 again if this is already installed?

Isn't there any script available which simply upgrade WVE 6.1.1.3 to WVE 7.0?

Can someone please help me on this?

Thanks,

Kashif

The reason for the install of WASND is that a WVE migration relies on some of the operations performed by the WASND migration.

What specific version of WVE are you migrating to? 7.0.0.1?

Thank you David for the reply, I am migrating WVE 6.1.1.3 to WVE 7.0.0.1

I just went through the link below, Do I need to create all profiles again in WVE 7.0 and after that run VEUpgrade.sh command?

The scenario you describe, where the WAS level is migrated prior to WVE, and not at the same time, is a scenario we recently added support for in 7.0.0.2.

Our support team contacted me about your query, and we should continue the discussion through that means.

Thank you David! The steps support sent to me looks good.

I have few more questions for which I have updated the PMR

    Thanks,

I've got similar questions regarding upgrades, but with 6.1 ND and 6.1.x VE.
Should I create a PMR as well?

No, you should not open a PMR. Go to the 6.1.1 InfoCenter to learn how to migrate to VE 6.1.x. (Migration scenarios supported in WVE 7.0 may not be supported in WVE 6.1.x.)
Here is a link to the 6.1.1 InfoCenter:
