Pinned topic Network Boot IBMIT from AIX NIM server

‏2011-10-28T21:37:53Z |
Hello, first let me say I am brand new to the Linux world. I am an accomplished AIX admin, and now our shop is looking at installing Suse on a virtual lpar on a P570.

I have scoured the web looking for some documentation on configuring our AIX NIM server to network boot and install Linux. I was wanting to use the IBMIT (IBM Installation Toolkit) as the bootimage then install Suse using the IBMIT. I was hoping to not use DHCP.
I have read the NIM A to Z 4.7 however this requires DHCP to be enabled and it talks about network installing Suse or RH but not IBMIT.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you for your time.

If you do not want to use DHCP for a netboot installation you must at least have BOOTP, try to verify if you can use it on AIX.
