Pinned topic SDMC and high availability

‏2011-10-14T14:11:58Z |
Is it possible to reproduce the VMware HA functionnality with SDMC?
We are looking for a solution to restart automatically VMs that became down on a failed blade, on a available one.

The function you are looking for is Remote Restart for Virtual Servers (the Systems Director name for LPARs). This feature relies upon the clustering capabilities in VIOS (Shared Storage Pools). We just announced the clustered SSP this week with availability in December 2011:

    Hi Glen,
    Thanks to answered me.
Do you have more informations about this functionality? I read some stuff about SSP but not about "Remote Restart for Virtual Servers".

    Hi Glen,
I read something that we loose Live Mobility if we use Shared Storage Pool?
So we have to choose between "LPM" and "Remote Restart for Virtual Servers"? Or there is a way to make both functionality up?
    Thanks in advance.
    Thierry.

A quick point of clarification. Remote Restart and Shared Storage Pools are independent functions - one does not require the other.

My apologies on this, I was incorrect concerning SSP + Remote Restart.

Remote Restart is, at this time, a PRPQ only (Programming RPQ - means limited release, not generally available).
