I'm trying to run PMAT (IBM Pattern Modeling and Analysis Tool for Java Garbage Collector ) from IBM Support Assistance 4.1, however fail with an error message "1GB memory is requested. Could not create the Java virtual machine.". Would you please suggest how to resolve this error and start PMAT from ISA 4.1 ?
When I start PMAT directly from the commandline entering java -Xmx512m -jar ga.jar, it works. So, I assume, if I can reduce the maximum heap size for PMAT, I can resolve the issue.
I set 512M to -Xmx of "commandLine" attribute underneath "standalone_tool" element on C:\Documents and Settings\<USERID>\IBM\ISAv41\applications\eclipse\plugins\com.ibm.trove.tool.pmat_4.1.2.00\plugin.xml, but it didn't work.

Re: Cannot start PMAT from ISA2011-09-13T11:35:11Z in response to hirotHello,
Editing plugin.xml as you described in your post is the right thing to do to change the maximum heap size. However, you also need to tell the ISA workbench to pick up the change. You can do this by doing the following:
1. Go to the ISA installation's rcp directory. By default on Windows it's located here: C:\Program Files\IBM\IBM Support Assistant v41\rcp.
2. Start up the ISA workbench by entering the command "rcplauncher -clean".
At this point you should be able to run PMAT from the workbench with a maximum heap size of 512M.
