I have a piece of code that checks for Bidi.requiresBidi(). This code throws the following exception. Any idea what could cause this LinkageError? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi,

    When are you getting this exception? Only when running a specific application?

    Thanks,
    Nell

    Hi,

    Yes, when running my application. I have a web UI written using Groovy script. This web UI makes a server call which triggers a class in a JAR file. This class in turn calls makes a call to Bidi that results in this link error.

    A quick google search shows that this problem can be caused by an incompletely/incorrectly installed JVM that cannot find the correct natives for the platform... have you tried reinstalling your JVM?

    Also, are you able to run the same code w/just Java outside of sMash? That might help narrow down the issue.

    I can run the same code as sMash app from my eclipse environment on my Windows box. I can run the same code as simple Java application outside sMash environment on non-eclipse environment on my linux box. But it fails if I run as sMash app in the non-eclipse environment on my linux box.

    I created another sMash app with the same code and that works fine. This sMash app has dependency on the following modules

    <dependency name="zero.core" org="zero" rev="[1.1.0.0, 1.2.0.0["/>
    <dependency name="zero.data" org="zero" rev="[1.1.0.0, 1.2.0.0["/>
    <dependency name="zero.timer" org="zero" rev="[1.1.0.0, 1.2.0.0["/>
    <dependency name="zero.cli.tasks" org="zero" rev="[1.1.0.0, 1.2.0.0["/>
    <dependency name="zero.kicker" org="zero" rev="[1.1.0.0, 1.2.0.0["/>
    <dependency name="zero.php" org="zero" rev="[1.0.0.0, 2.0.0.0["/>
    <dependency name="mysql-connector-java" org="mysql" rev="[5.0.0.0,6.0.0.0["/>

    I am not sure if php has anything to do with this error. I see similar discussion in the following thread but I am not sure what the fix is.

    Hi,

    I have been told this error is related to the PHP runtime and should be fixed if you move to a newer version of sMash, probably anything 1.1.1.1 or higher (preferably 1.1.1.5, the latest).

    Thanks,
    Nell
