Pinned topic What is the best way to load a Cubing Services data cache?

‏2011-06-23T02:00:02Z |
We have an overnight batch loaded Data Warehouse. We use MQTs and Cubing Services to provide OLAP to Cognos. Our problem is that first thing in the morning it is taking up to a minute for the first Cognos report to run as the Cubing Services data cache is reloaded. Is there an easier way to make sure the Cubing Services Cache is pre-loaded at the start of each day before reporting users start to use it? We are looking at under 10 second response times normally for Cubing Services reports so the one minute wait is painful.

Via the Admin console for a cube server you can specify a seed query.

And what should I use for a seed query? Is any query against the cube going to reload the entire data cache or does it need to retrieve data from all of the dimensions in the cube?
