Pinned topic How to find the host port indentifier of IBM SAS HBA in SUSE 11.1

‏2011-06-23T00:04:10Z |
I have an IBM SAS HBA PCIe currently installed on x3850 with SUSE 11 SP1 and I can't seem to find the port ID information (WWID - 16 characters long) so I can map it from the storage manager. What directory is in? I tried in /sys/class/sas_* but it's not there.
Thank you.

I don't have the same hardware or environment to test this, but you might be able to find the information that you need using systool.

    For example, if I run

    systool -vc scsi_device

on my laptop, I get a listing of my disk devices, which includes the Device path.  There are several other parameters available, though I've found very little in the way of solid information about them.

You might take a look at this page:  http://alinux.web.id/2011/04/16/how-to-knowing-sas-hba-on-ibm-blade-hs21-or-hs22.html

It showed a few ways that an admin found devices on his system using basic kernel tools.
