Pinned topic Castiron appliance IP address

‏2010-09-27T21:05:07Z |

I accidentally changed the fix data/managment IP address to DHCP, now I am not able to login...is there anyway I can change it back? How to find out the Hostname? do we have to send someone to our data center if we can't change the setting remotely?

    Response Time

    ‏2010-09-27T21:13:11Z
    minzhao,
The forum user base isn't very dense yet, so response time may take a while.
I suggest opening a support ticket. There is probably a way to correct your problem from the command line, but I do not know what it is.
    HTH,
    David

Shell Access to view/change network settings

    ‏2010-09-27T21:32:29Z
If you are using a Virtual Appliance then go through the VMWare Virtual Machine Console to login to the shell prompt. Login with admin password and then use the "net set interface emgmt address nn.nn.nn.nn" command to set a static IP address. If you have a physical appliance, use a serial cable to connect it to your laptop/desktop and user HyperTerminal to connect to the appliance on the serial port. You will again get the shell login prompt where you can enter your management username password and change the IP address.
Using the same mechanism you can also get the currently configured DHCP address and then use that to connect to the WMC through the Internet Browser. Use the "net show all" command to get the Management and Data DHCP IP addresses.
