Pinned topic Url Configuration

‏2011-06-06T12:51:14Z |
Hi Guys,

I had a requirement from the client.

In general we can login our application by typing

http://sysname/ip:9080/maximo

but the client wants his login in to the application as

maximo.clientname.com

If pos how can i make this .

With Httpserver we can login without using port like

http://sysname/maximo and with domain mapping we can access like

maximo.clientname.com/maximo but client is not satisfied with this.

Please suggest me.

Thanks
Praveen.P

    You're almost there, last thing you need to do is set up a redirect on your http server httpd.conf.

    RedirectMatch permanent ^/$ http:
    //sysname/maximo

    This thread also discusses two ways of doing this.

    If you are using Websphere, navigate to webserver1 and edit the httpd.conf file as follows:

    Find the following line:
    1. Redirect permanent /foo http://www.example.com/bar

    Underneath that line, place:
    RedirectMatch permanent ^/$ http://sysname/maximo

    Restart webserver1.

    Hope that helps.

    ^ not sure why the hash symbol was formatted to a number...

    what I wanted to say was find the following line:

    # Redirect permanent /foo http:
    //www.example.com/bar

    and below it place:

    RedirectMatch permanent ^/$ http:
    //sysname/maximo

    Hi ..

    iam very glad for ur reply and thanks for that.

    But i want to make u more clear how i have configured the httpd.conf file earlier so that i can get some suggestion and will be easy for u to find out the problem when i am unable to solve this.

    By following these steps i had configured it.

    Any changes or modifications so that it works will be very helpful to me
    ###HOST FILE EDIT
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    #WEB SERVER NAME e.g
    192.168.7.61 max-dev-app1.shopzone.com
    #Enter Different Names for Web Server which will be used e.g
    192.168.7.61 maximo

    #edit httpd.conf#

    1. Uncomment following Module line which will be in the list
    LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

    2.Uncomment " NameVirtualHost * " entry and edit it in the format as follows
    NameVirtualHost Your_WebServer_Name:Listner_Port_YourWebserver
    e.g NameVirtualHost wp6host.training.ibm.com:80

    3. Add the following Stanza and #ABCDEF is to Describe the Detail what line do ,
    it is not part of Stanza. this way you can add N Nubers of virtual Host Entries

    #First Redirection
    <VirtualHost wp6host.training.ibm.com:80> # I entered my Web Server_Name & Port
    ServerName google # as in host file i entered rizwan
    DocumentRoot "C:/Program Files/IBM HTTP Server/htdocs/en_US" #Enter your htdocs Path based on linux/windows
    RewriteEngine on # It is used to activate module
    RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://www.google.com R,L #Just Change your web site address e.g facebook.com
    </VirtualHost>

    4. After this Restart your Web Server

    #How to test it#

    1. if your browser is using proxy setting then enter "google" in the "by pass proxy server"

    2. Just enter http://google <=Enter Your web Server will redirect your request to www.google.com

    I have not configured httpd.conf the way you have so I can't comment on your configuration.

    If I'm not mistaken, all you are trying to do is redirect your root folder to another folder. That is, redirect "http://sysname/" to "http://sysname/maximo". To do this, all I have done in the past is is add the line of code in my above post to httpd.conf - nothing else.

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply.I removed all the configuration change and did exactly what u have suggested and it worked for me.

    But i want one more suggestion from you like

    when i enter http://example.com after entering the redirection rule it is routing to some other address and it is displaying the routed address in the browser.

    Is there any rule so that i can hide the address from the user like

    if i enter http://example.com it should redirect to http://example.com/route and in the browser url should be as http://example.com

    I hope the query is clear.

    Thanks in advance!!
