Pinned topic Unable to make a connection to Microsoft Access Database by ODM

‏2011-05-28T10:50:10Z |
Hi,
I have an access database, which stores the data for my opl model. Now, I want to create the project with the same opl model in ODM. Also, to create my Application Data Model(ADM), I will reverse engineer from the database tables to create my tuples. I inserted the following code in deployment_dev.odmds file, after which the connection shows in the database connections tab.

<connection id="oilDB">
<!-- The name of the JDBC driver for your database -->
<JDBCDriverClass name="sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver"/>
<!-- The general URL for the ODBC driver is jdbc:odbc:<Name Of the ODBC datasource> -->
<JDBCURL>jdbc:odbc:oilDB</JDBCURL>
<!-- No need for authentication for the Microsoft Access database -->
<authentication>
<none/>
</authentication>
</connection>

When I deploy the project and create a default scenario, the error message I get is Error connecting to the database, check it is accessible and properly initialized (URL: 'jdbc:odbc:oilDB').

I don't know whether the driver is correct or not or if there is any other issue.

Please Help its urgent.

    Found the most robust way to create connection to access database. What needs to be done is create a odbc datasource & use its name while connecting to database. Access Driver needs to be installed first, which is available on microsoft website.
