We are finally upgrading from DataStage 7.5 to 8 (V8.5), and I'm exploring the Metadata Workbench stuff. And I'm wondering how I can use it to access metadata from Cognos 8.
I spent some time learning MetaStage several years ago, but we decided not to progress with it, and my knowledge has departed me.
Now that I've started looking at Metadata Workbench, I feel quite lost. The tutorial discusses importing sample files via a command line, and doesn't discuss how to do this any other way (assuming it's possible to do it another way).
I fully concede that some training would be in order, but I would have thought that importing some Cognos metadata would have been simple enough to do without training.
Can anyone give me some pointers on how to import Cognos metadata?

This is the accepted answer. There are several engineering guides available for loading metadata into the IBM InfoSphere Information Server - including Cognos Reports and Database Systems using the Import Export Manager utility. The Workbench can then display and report on such information, including Data Lienage Analysis.

Thanks for the info. After I installed the client I saw an icon for 'IBM Import Export Manager', but I thought that was a DataStage Import / Export utility, not a Metadata Import / Export tool.
So I decided to change the name of the desktop icon to 'IBM Metadata Import Export Manager'.
I can now see the Cognos brokers.
As it happens, I'm now getting a Memory error, but i've got our local support guys looking into it.
