In order to use the converged proxy, there appears to be two requirements: MAC forwarding and the ability to perform the SIP OPTIONS health check. The IBM Edge Server can do both but are there alternatives?
Do most enterprises have load balancers that are capable of handling both these requirements? Or is the Edge Server the only option?

Re: Converged proxy and load balancer2011-05-18T19:44:04ZThis is the accepted answer. This is the accepted answer. The IBM Edge Server is NOT the only option. Most major load balancing products such as the F5 product line support MAC Forwarding. We have several customers that use F5 products. One thing to be aware of is that what we refer to as MAC forwarding may be called something else in other products, but the capability is pretty common.
