Is there a requirement that the file extension of a deployed SIP servlet be .sar? Can it be deployed as a .war?

he Websphere SIP container is not coping elements from the sip.xml to the web.xml if the module is deployed as war file. in this case the deployer should do it manually or use RAD (RAD is doing it automatically).
Annotations are being read from .war and from .sar modules.
