Pinned topic Cognos drill through report query

‏2011-05-08T12:26:12Z |
There is a parent report A and a child report B(Graph Report) which is drill through parent
report columns.

Now when we run report A for more than once from the web portal, it gives proper data for
both the reports.

Eg1: Output when report run for 1st time with prompt value=X :
Report A column output value=6
Report B gives data for value=6

Eg2: Output when report run for 2nd time with prompt value=Y :
Report A column output value=8
Report B gives data for value=8

But, when we try to run report A from Cognos Front-End, then it generates the following
output:

Output when report run for Eg1:
Report A column output value=6
Report B gives data for value=8

Output when report run for Eg2:
Report A column output value=8
Report B gives data for value=8

That is, it gives latest output for report B everytime.

It would help if you could provide more information:

      1. Which Series 7 product(s) are you using? Impromptu Web Reports? PowerPlay Enterprise Server? Cognos Query?
      2. Are you drilling through to a different product?
      3. When you say "web portal" do you mean Upfront?
      4. What is the "Cognos Front-End" and how does it differ from the "web portal"?
      5. What output format are you using to perform the drill through?

Following is the behaviour when we run reports from Customize view where it is saved.

    Eg1:

    Report A Output Sample:

    Column1 Column2
    abc 6
Now when we click on value 6:
Report B Output generates for value=8

    Eg2:
    Report A Output sample:

    Column1 Column2
    def 8
Now when we click on value 8:
Report B Output generates for value=8

The output for Eg1 is coming wrong. It is displaying the data of latest run report for Report B.

What you need to look at is how your Cognos Front-End or custom view differs from working with the reports through Upfront. You haven't really explained what this Front-End is though so it is difficult to help you.

    Hi Phil,

Thank you for providing the inputs.

Here Cognos Front-End or Customize view means...

When we run a report from upfront it gives option to save the report in newsbox as a new entry.

So after saving it,when User tries to run Report from the saved location(Customize view or upfront Newsbox)(That is by login with User Id "ABC" in Upfront) the above problem is been faced.

In which case the report view is also Upfront. Fundamentally, there should not be any difference in the URL link generated in the PDF output when you run it directly from Upfront or access saved output from Upfront. This should mean that the drill target should be executed in exactly the same way. It would be best to contact IBM support with this problem.
