I found about the Java Plugin for SLES 11 SP1 on a similar issue.

They said that they were able to load the latest version of Java from the RPM. Then, they linked to the JRE's plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin.so file.

Normally when I set up Java in Firefox I have to manually link to the correct library rather than installing it a separate RPM. Take a look at that thread and see if it seems relevant to your situation. If not, tell us why that doesn't seem to apply and we'll go from there.

    Cheers!
