‏2011-04-26T07:19:21Z |
Hi,
We are using ITM, Omnibus Object Server, ITNM-IP and TBSM. We have 20-25 Mission Critical systems to monitor, so i want to know that whether is it possible to show Top 5 CPU Usage server under TBSM tip? If yes then please give me some idea how can i achieve it. Thanks in Advance.

You can install the ITM reports in TBSM. If I remember correctly there is a report that does exactly that. You can download the ITM reports from here: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/mydeveloperworks/wikis/home/wiki/W22ac5f3ebabf_4ff4_bd55_1a897c9a443e/page/Report%20Catalog?lang=en or at least the ITM reports used to be there.

    Hi,

The reports were there, now I can't find them. But I do have them, I'll attach them to this post. Inside the zip there's a pdf with intructions on which collections you must activate in ITM for the reports to work. and the other zip is the one you have to import to TBSM through the reports menu in TBSM. You won't see any data until the ITM datawarehouse has collected enough information.

    Regards,
    Felipe

    Hi Felipe,

I think the reports are for only TCR i.e. these are static reports, Can i create a custom Canvas on which i want to show display Top 5/10 CPU resources etc .

    devil786,

Yes those are static TCR reports. I've never tried what you want to do, but it does seems possible. What I would do is open the reports in BIRT, find the report that shows the information that I need and see how it works. Once I know which information I need I'll see about creating querys for graphics. Sorry for being vague but I don't have access to TBSM right now, and I'm doing this by memory.

    Hi Felipe,
I found the following query :

    select "System_Name" as "Server_Name", 100-avg("AVG_Idle_CPU") as "CPU_USED", avg("AVG_Idle_CPU") as "CPU_FREE"
    from "KLZ_CPU_DV"
    where "SHIFTPERIOD" = ? and "VACATIONPERIOD" = ?
and "WRITETIME" between '0000000000000000' and '9999999999999999'
group by "System_Name" but it is used for historical report. How can i use it for current latest info.

Ok, just to clear something up. IMHO, I don't think you will be able to put real time ITM data in to TBSM, because you have to first save that information into the data warehouse and that is not done in real time.

You'll need to modify that query since I don't think its calculating the top 5 cpu users. And add restrictions so it will only pull the latest info. If you don't have the shift and vacation periods configured you can do without those restrictions in the query.

Also you'll need to modify how often the summarization and prunning agent saves info to the data warehouse if you want access to that information as soon as posible, but be carefull because it will affect all of the data that you are saving to the data warehouse.

Again, Im working from memory here so I might be wrong :P and if you can figure out how to decode those date fields into something human readable let me know.

    Regards,
    Felipe

    Hi Felipe,

I have created another query which changes the info. to human readable form. will post it tomorrow morning. Also Summarization and pruning agent is set to 30 Secs. i.e. after 30 secs ITM writes the data to its warehouse.

Absolutely not. I'm on the TBSM management team and just wanted to keep an eye on the progress of your PMR.

    Thanks.

    Hi devil786,

I was wondering if you could share the query that makes the date field human readable, I haven't figured out how to do this.

And please do let us know how is your pmr going? what are they saying? is it posible to do what you want?

    Hi Felipe,
Will send you the query tomorrow. as i will have to write it again. about the PMR, i received a reply some time before that it is not possible to build dynamic dashboards, but i think it is possible via TBSM charting portlet. i am working on it, and will update you ASAP
