Pinned topic How to register / deploy custom widgets

‏2011-04-13T11:39:07Z |
Hello,

I am new to IBM ECM Widgets and need to Integrate third-party widgets. So I started with the ibm tutorial Link:Integrate third-party widgets with IBM ECM Widgets, Part 3: Create and integrate a custom step completion widget.
I didn't change anything from the download sample code and deployed it like descripted in Listing 8:

C:\> cd >WAS_install_path>\profiles\>profile_name>\bin C:\> wsadmin -connType NONE C:\>$AdminTask installBusinessSpaceWidgets
{-serverName server1 -nodeName WMADBS7Node01 -widgets C:\ SampleWidget1.zip
} C:\> $AdminConfig save

No errors.
Then I restarted the WebSphere profil. Still no errors.
But I can't see the new custom widget in the Business Space environment - it's not available. Do I miss something?

Please help!

Ok, I'm not sure why but now the custom widget is avaiblable in the Business Space Environment.

    1) I uninstalled the widget and installed it again.
    2) Restarted the WebSphere profil
    3) Closed all open browsers (Firefox and IE)
    4) Started Firefox again, logged into BusinessSpace and now the widget is there!

I cleared the browser cache before too. So I'm not sure why it didn't work.

The only log is C:/Programme/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles<profil>/logs or is there another place where I can check for error messages?

if you are sure you cleared your browser cache...

Did you really have that space between c:\ and the zip archive name, or is that the forum software formatting it funny?

that's the right place to look for logs, they are prefixed with the Admin Task name, and end with .trace They are pretty sparse
