Pinned topic DLPAR on RHEL 5.3

‏2011-04-05T14:21:07Z |
Hi Guys,

I'm trying to do a Dlpar to increase / decrease memory on a LINUX LPAR ( P5) running RHEL 5.3 but the operation fails with the below error

DLPAR ADD Memory resources failed:
/usr/sbin/drmgr not installed
I have all the RAS rpm's installed as mentioned in the link below

http://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/set2/sas/f/lopdiags/redhat/hmcmanaged/rhel5.html

Can anyone suggest how it can be achieved and any help documents ?

That seems a bit odd, the drmgr command should have been installed as part of the RHEL ppc64-utils package. I would confirm that the /usr/sbin/drmgr command does not exist on your system. Also, could you provide additional information on how you are attempting to add/remove memory?

If the drmgr command really is not there you can try to re-install the ppc64-utils package from the RHEL media or grab the latest version of the powerpc-utils package that has the latest drmgr command in it.

      Hi

In the link I see the pps utility for sles -10 only , will this suit for RHEL 5.3 ppc
      powerpc-utils-sles10-addons-1.0.2.tar.gz
In my ppc RHEL Installation media i see the rpm (ppc64-utils-0.11-10.el5) which is already there in my system.
root@xxxxx~# rpm -qa | grep ppc
      ppc64-utils-0.11-10.el5
I will try installing it again

I Updated the ppc64-utils package from the internal IBM RHN and it worked fine

I tried Increase and decrease of Processsors - Worked fine
        Increase of Memory worked fine
Decrease of memory didn't work as it stated that there is no free memory to deallocate.. I think this is because all the memory or locked by the OS..

        Thanks for the Help :)

Updated the ppc64-utils to later version.
