Pinned topic Does anyone have experience on making location awareness work

‏2011-03-21T16:12:41Z |
Hi,

Except adding a Regions data file and updating the location.xml, like described in the Cognos Mobile administration document, what else must be doen to make location awareness work?
  • How does the mobile device give the coordinates to Cognos10?
  • What kind of filter can be used in Report studio? (i have a Query on the great_outdoors_sales_en where i have a filter on branch (= list of cities) like "caption(Branch) = ?CityCenter?"

Regards,
Oscar

That's all you need to do. You then have to name your prompt fields correctly in your reports.

    > How does the mobile device give the coordinates to Cognos10?

The mobile device passes its location to the server (if the user allows it). The server reverse-geocodes the location into the form that the report needs, according to rule associated with the prompt name in location.xml.

You would need a prompt field named 'CityCenter' in your report, and a parameter named 'CityCenter' defined in location.xml.
