Pinned topic Installation of Appscan Source Core Edition

‏2011-03-18T17:07:33Z |
While the installation instructions are fairly clear, I just want to make sure I understand the difference between Scenario 2 and Scenario 4 and I haven't missed anything.

Scenario 2: Install IBM Rational AppScan Source Edition for Core
and install to an existing Oracle database
Apply the AppScan Source Edition database schema and data to an existing Oracle
database. During the installation process, you specify Oracle database login
settings so that IBM Rational AppScan Source Edition for Core can connect to the
database. To learn how to install for this scenario, see “Install IBM Rational
AppScan Source Edition for Core and install to an existing Oracle database” on
page 35.
Scenario 4: Install IBM Rational AppScan Source Edition for Core
and configure it to connect to an Oracle database
Install the AppScan Source Edition database schema and data to an existing Oracle
database and then install IBM Rational AppScan Source Edition for Core. When
installing IBM Rational AppScan Source Edition for Core, an installation panel will
guide you through the settings required for IBM Rational AppScan Source Edition
for Core to connect to the Oracle database. To learn how to install for this scenario,
see “Install IBM Rational AppScan Source Edition for Core and configure it to
connect to an Oracle database” on page 41.

Reading both instructions, they appear to achieve the same results but the difference is, in Scenario 2, the installation of Appscan Source and Database happen in one process, while in Scenario 4, there are two processes, the first is installing the database and the second is installing Appscan Source. The information provided is the same and the result is the same. I am also assuming that in Scenario 4, the Database User Name and Password requested in the Appscan Source install is the same as the System User Name and Password provided in the Database install.

Am I understanding this correctly?

Your assumptions look correct to me.

    Thanks,

    Hi Kalperst,

I agree with Aaron that your assumptions look correct. Did this install process work for you?

Yes, the install was successful. As a matter of fact we are running against an Oracle 11G database, so far with no problems. (fingers crossed)
