Pinned topic RFC: which "soname"-equivalent to prefer with runtime linking?

‏2011-01-25T21:24:36Z |
Hello!

As I did not find satisfying information on how best to create shared libraries (with runtime linking enabled) providing something equivalent to what is known as "DT_SONAME" in ELF-/SystemV-world, I've investigated myself and found some possible ways to do so.

Now I want to get a consensus over some way, ideally to give package maintainers a "best practice" reference for how to create shared libraries (with runtime linking enabled) on AIX.

As GNU libtool is a widely accepted and used tool to create shared libraries across platforms, I've started the thread there.

However, I'd like to ask the same question to you, the real AIX users, developers and gurus not registered with libtool,
hoping the weblink to the libtool thread is sufficient:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/libtool/2011-01/msg00023.html

Thank you!
