Pinned topic SQL call handling of special characters WPF 6.1.5 OK - WPF 7 Broken

‏2011-01-06T02:52:40Z |
I have a sql call builder that retrieves a string from a DB2 table. The string contains html tags. The tags are returned as they are stored by WPF 6.1.5 but WPF 7 encodes the characters. I am querying the same DB2 table and using the same WAS for both models. I am using an exact copy of WPF project in both WPF 6.1.5 and WPF 7 (different workspaces)

Contents of MSG_TXT field in DB2:
Create Page
This one is really .special

Result set variable printed to log from SQL call builder in:

WPF 6.1.5:
<MSG_TX>Create Page
This one is really special</MSG_TX>

WPF 7:
<MSG_TX>Create Page<br />This one is <i>really </i>.<b>special</b></MSG_TX>

Of course this results in a properly formatted output to the browser in WPF 6.1.5

but tags in the ouput in WPF 7:
Create Page
This one is
really .special

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I opened a PMR and the fix was as follows:

In order to resolve this issue please use a text builder with Text Format input set appropriately to override this behavior. Note that this opens a security hole if there's ever a possibility that a bad person might submit something to that DB.

If you need to resolve this in many different places the RDD builder may be more efficient to use instead of the text builder.
