    unzip CZUD4ML.zip and name the folder as W-Setup (for windows) I-Setup (For AIX etc)
    I think there was 1 mistake in 1 file(s)...not sure whether it is corrected now or not (by IBM)
    Follow the process for CZUD7ML.zip unzip and rename as W-5 (or I-5) depending on OS.

    and click setup in W-Setup.
    If it asks for a disc during DB2 install...then you may need to swap W-2 as W-3 and W-3 as W-2.

    Good Luck!

    P.S. Developer Works is not an active form. It is as good as IBM service.

    The mapping of images to disk labels is:
    CZUD4ML.zip = W-Setup
    CZUD8ML.zip = W-1
    CZUD9ML.zip = W-2
    CZUD5ML.zip = W-3
    CZUD6ML.zip = W-4
    CZUD7ML.zip = W-5

    The "W-" part of these labels stands for Windows. If you are installing on Linux, replace "W-" with "IL-", and for iSeries, replace "W-" with "I-".

    The DB2 error message you got during the install probably doesn't have anything to do with the CD labeling, but if you post a couple of logs files, we might be able to tell a little more. Look for wpinstalllog.txt and db2setup.log in your PortalServer/log directory. If you don't see them there, look in your temp directory next.

    Oops, I need to correct my own post. The images on the download page were mislabeled, and we have initiated a change request to get it corrected, but the correction hasn't been uploaded yet. The right labels for the Express Trial images are these:

    • WebSphere Portal Express V7.0 Trial WebSphere Portal Express Install & Quick Start Guide V7.0 (W-Setup,IL-Setup,I-Setup) Multiplatform Multilingual CZUD4ML.zip

    • WebSphere Portal Express V7.0 Trial - WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment for Windows x86-32 V7.0 (W-1) Multilingual CZUD8ML.zip

    • WebSphere Portal Express V7.0 Trial - DB2 UDB WorkGroup Edition For Windows 32 For Express 9.7 (W-3) Multilingual CZUD9ML.zip

    • WebSphere Portal Express V7.0 Trial - Portal Server Express component (Disc 1 of 3), V7.0 (W-4, IL-4, I-4) Multiplatform Multilingual CZUD5ML.zip

    • WebSphere Portal Express V7.0 Trial - Portal Server Express component (Disc 2 of 3), V7.0 (W-5, IL-5, I-5) Multiplatform Multilingual CZUD6ML.zip

    • WebSphere Portal Express V7.0 Trial - Portal Server Express component (Disc 3 of 3), V7.0 (W-6, IL-6, I-6) Multiplatform Multilingual CZUD7ML.zip
    You may note that there is no disk "W-2"; this is by design. Sorry for the confusion.

    Thanks for sending the DB2 log. I can tell from the log that the problem you are encountering is related to the fact that you do not have a C: drive. I can think of two possible ways to work around this problem, one of which is simple if you can do it; the other is fairly complex.

    The simple solution is to try installing on a different computer-- one that does have a C: drive. You don't necessarily have to install Portal to the C drive, but you do need to have one on the machine.

    The more complex solution involves the following steps:
    1. Open a command window and change to the root of your Portal setup disk. Now cd into the "PortalExpress" subdirectory.
    2. Run the following command:
    install.bat -W db2ExpressOption.usePreconfiguredDb="no"
    3. Step through the install wizard as usual. You will see an extra panel or two, but they should be self-explanatory.
    4. Let the install run. When it prompts you for the DB2 CD, do the following before answering the prompt:
    4a. Navigate to the directory where you are installing Portal and look in the "package" subdirectory for a file named "db2response.windows.txt". For example, the path might be: "E:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\PortalServer\package\db2response.windows.txt"
    4b. Open that file in a text editor and find the line that contains "DFTDBPATH = C:". Change the C: to E:.
    4c. Close the file.
    5. Go back to the prompt you left waiting in Step 4 and tell the Portal installer where to find the DB2 CD image and let it resume installing.

    With luck, the DB2 installation will be successful this time. The overall Portal install will take a while but it should eventually complete as well.

    Hopefully you will be able to do the simple solution, but either way, let us know what happens.

    but now as i am able to insttal , it gives a new one as
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    " EJPID0017E - The Portal Configuration Setup Completed With Errors. Please refer to the log file
    c:\IBM\WebSphere\PortalServer\log\wpinstalllog.txt for additional information. The installer will exit now.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    I am sorry that you ran into another problem. Checking your log, I see that the error occurs when we try to create the Portal database in DB2:

    [exec] CREATE DB wpsdb USING CODESET UTF-8 TERRITORY US PAGESIZE 8192 [exec] SQL1092N
    "HARISHK" does not have the authority to perform the requested [exec] command or operation.

    If we look up DB2 error code "SQL1092N" in the DB2 InfoCenter:

    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v9r7/topic/com.ibm.db2.luw.messages.sql.doc/doc/msql01092n.html

    we see that there are several possible causes. But in an earlier post, you mentioned being on a domain, so it's a strong chance that this is the problem:
    "An attempt is made to connect to the DB2 Server by using a domain user ID." This is confirmed in your install log, where the following pop-up message is logged:

    EJPID0068W: Please note: Installation and configuration of WebSphere Portal Express requires a locally-defined administrative ID on Windows because of interaction with DB2. Using a domain ID to run the install may lead to errors, even

    if the ID is in the Administrators group.

    The DB2 InfoCenter linked above mentions a few ways of resolving this problem. The easiest solution, if you can do it, would be to log in as a locally-defined Admin user and perform the install from that ID, rather than from the domain-defined ID.

    You will need to uninstall this failed install of Portal before reattempting. When you do so, please be sure to take the additional step of deleting the "wpx70db2" user from your system; out uninstaller does not delete this ID, which was created by the DB2 install. For details, refer to the Portal Express InfoCenter:
    http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/portalwiki.nsf/dx/Uninstalling_manually_on_Windows_exp7
    Specifically, note step 4b.

    Thanks in advance.
    Using the disk labels IL-1, IL-2, IL-3, etc... helps the install wizard automatically find the the disks without the need to prompt you for their locations. But you could really name the directories anything you want, and the wizard will prompt you for the location of the disk it needs at the right time. If you're not sure which disk is the right one, just try pointing to each of them in turn; the wizard will recognize it when you point to the right one.

    If none of the disks are accepted, then that most likely means that they are corrupted. One of the zip/tar files that you downloaded may have been truncated and the complete disk image was not recreated when you expanded it. I notice the following filesizes listed on the download page; please make sure your files are valid.
    CZUD4ML.zip (211 MB)
    CZUE0ML.tar (946 MB)
    CZUE2ML.zip (941 MB)
    CZUD5ML.zip (696 MB)
    CZUD6ML.zip (259 MB)
    CZUD7ML.zip (404 MB)

    Could you please post your wpinstalllog.txt file? Depending on how far you were able to get in the install, you will find it either in the PortalServer/log/ directory where you tried to install Portal, or else in your temp directory.
