Pinned topic BuildForge Monitoring Tool 7.1.1.3

‏2010-09-21T18:45:05Z |
Hi - We have upgraded BuildForge from 7.0.2Ifix2 to 7.1.1.3 and I was looking to setup the Monitoring Tool. Do we know where we can get a version that is 7.1.1.3 compatible?

Thanks
Sehar

I do not know of a monitoring tool specific to buildforge. Depending on what you want to monitor there are several approaches to take. You can monitor processes running by looking at processes running on the console. You might want to monitor the DB the console is pointed at. You might want to monitor logged in users or running projects (through the API).

Most monitoring systems have the concept of a plugin that is external to the monitoring system. Usually a shell script or similar that runs and provides output or return codes in a specific format. Using an external plugin like that is the route I would take were my job to be running BF in a large shop.

My guess would be that they are looking for the Build Forge Monitor Utility which was made available on developerWorks originally.

I think you're referring to Build Forge Monitor tool at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rational/downloads/08/bf_monitor_guide/index.html . One thing you can try for 7.1.1.3 is to download the BuildForgeMonitor.war and prior to deploying in Tomcat update the rbf-services-client-java.jar contained in its WEB-INF/lib directory.

The rbf-services-client-java.jar can be obtained from your 7.1.1.3 Build Forge Management Console by downloading in a browser from the http://host:port/clients page. Once you have the rbf-services-client-java.jar for 7.1.1.3, you can update the BuildForgeMonitor.war WEB-INF/lib with it (ex. zip -ru BuildForgeMonitor.war WEB-INF/lib/rbf-services-client-java.jar) .
