Pinned topic Rich Data Definition problems with sorting

‏2010-08-25T19:44:38Z |
I'm using a rich data definition file in Portlet Factory model, and the columnsorting tag isn't working quite right. It does enable click-to-sort in the Data Page, but even though I specified Number, it's sorting as a string.

<DataDefinition name=
"TOTAL_PREV_HOURS"> <Label>Total Prev. Hours</Label> <Required>false</Required> <DataType>double</DataType> <FormatExpr>NumberFormat(##.0)</FormatExpr> <ColumnSorting>Number</ColumnSorting> </DataDefinition>

Above is a snippet of the definition I'm using.

Clicking on the header sorts it as a string, so I get:

1.5
17.5
2.0
2.5
48.0
8.0

etc.

I'm trying it in two similar models. One is using a Rich Data Definition Builder (Read Data Definition File) and the other has the RDD applied to the Service Consumer builder.

Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem with rich data definitions?

I believe the proper value for the <ColumnSorting> tag should be "Numbers" rather than "Number".

Well son of a gun, you're right! And the documentation in Portlet Factory 6.1.5 is wrong. I wish I could say I'm surprised.

    Thanks for the help.
