We have a workstation IBM IntelliStation 9111 Model 285 (POWER GXT6500P Graphics Accelerator; 2-core 2.1 GHz POWER5+ Processor Card, 36MB L3 Cache). We have endeavored to install linux by IBM_Installation_Toolkit_401.iso (1.6 GB). However, we have a problem with graphics...
After loading the disc and typing "linux" display switches to the new regime. This occurs even before the menu mode selection (text, graphics). This mode is not correct the monitor - the text is increased beyond the borders of the screen, and the entire screen is filled with white stripes. As a result, continue the installation in text mode is not possible. In the graphic does not start X.
Is my graphics card in this build? How better to do?

Re: Problem with POWER GXT6500P Graphics Accelerator2010-06-23T17:26:18Z in response to iaphmephiHi iaphmephi,
sorry for the late response. We don't have a card like yours available for testing, so I am not able to reproduce the problem. Does it happen only when booting the Toolkit? If you boot a RHEL or SLES media the screen works fine? While we cannot identify the cause, there is an alternative way to have the IBM Installation Toolkit running on your machine by using its serial console.
Just a quick note: for the next Toolkit's release we will be possibly dropping support for this machine model.
Let us know of your results.
Try the new IBM Installation Toolkit 4.1, many new features and IBM packages available
