Here is a very abbreviated description of the situation. Our Linux OS developers would like to use ClearCase for managing local changes, but leverage Git for the 'heavy lifting' of kernel management.
One of the reasons for keeping ClearCase in the picture (vs. only using Git) is that ClearCase and ClearQuest are tied together. We don't want to lose traceability.
If you are using Git with ClearCase, I'd be very interested in hearing the approach you use.
