Pinned topic how to copy password file from existing server to newly cloned server

Dear AIX gurus,
Recently we have restored mksysb to new server. If we want to preserve the exact password since some of the password are hard coded in applications. If I copy /etc/passwd and /etc/group, is it sufficient? Hope to hear from you. Many thanks

    Hi

You would need to copy the current /etc/security/passwd as well because that's the place where the encrypted user passwords are stored.

I know I'm about 2 years late, but you may also need /etc/security/user, in case you've set any user specific settings.
