Pinned topic Support for WINE on PowerVM Lx86

Does IBM have a support statement for this either way (yes/no). I cannot find any statement although I can see on this forum that it seems to work.

Hi, regarding WINE under Lx86, I am tempted to think that we can run Windows applications by just running both WINE and the application inside Lx86, because Lx86 provides a standard Unix environment for an x86 platform; therefore, WINE is like any other x86 Linux application (which may or may not need to be certified for Lx86).
It should only need minimal or no modifications with some performance loss due to running inside the interpreter rather than natively.

I will get back to you with a more definite answer about a WINE support statement for Lx86 from the Lx86 development group.

After further inquiry, I was informed that it works in many cases but, unfortunately, we don't officially support WINE on Lx86.
