Pinned topic Issues with RAID1 on SLES11 on p575

‏2010-02-03T07:44:43Z |
Hey everyone,

I have a few p6IH in my access and want to get them all working with SLES11.
Okay, that works fine.
I found out the RAID Controller holds two disks, so I decided to use the HW raid function.

To get that working I booted SLES11 over the network and used iprconfig.

But the weired thing is: with both disks I'm only able to create a RAID0!
Not what I want.
There is no other choice in the menu.
"c" just shows me RAID0.

That is weired, isn't it?
Something that I missed?

Thanks, Torsten

Looking at the specs for the 575: http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/power/hardware/575/specs.html, it doesn't look like it supports hardware RAID to the internal SAS disks, so I think this is expected. The hardware RAID 10 function requires a bank of non volatile memory which the 575 does not have.

      Oh that will be strange!
The ctrl shows up as a RAID ctrl.

Anyway, many thanks for the reply. Maybe you're right and it is because of the missing non-volatile memory.

      Too bad

      Cheers!
