Pinned topic GPFS 3.3.0 Installation problems

‏2010-01-11T16:11:23Z |
I'm working with a customer to install GPFS 3.3.0 as a trial and we are running into problems during the install. Here is the error we get after we think we are done with the installation:

Package version 3.3.0.0 does not match expected version 3.2.1. Ignoring uploaded package.

We have tried to install with and without the GUI, and we tried to install from both SMITTY and CLI, same results. The p5 server we are using for this is running AIX 5.3 and has never had any version of GPFS loaded on it before.

Here is the error we get when we try to create a cluster:

Error while reading cluster information on host 10.248.40.170.
Cause: Command failed with exitcode {0}

This is whats installed:

  1. lslpp -l |grep -i gpfs
gpfs.base 3.3.0.3 COMMITTED GPFS File Manager
gpfs.gui 3.3.0.1 COMMITTED GPFS GUI
gpfs.msg.en_US 3.3.0.3 COMMITTED GPFS Server Messages - U.S.
gpfs.base 3.3.0.3 COMMITTED GPFS File Manager
gpfs.docs.data 3.3.0.1 COMMITTED GPFS Server Manpages
Any idea's what's going on?

We are currently working to fix a problem that looks similar to this, and Service is aware of it.
Please open a PMR for this problem.
    Thank you.

    Hi..

The software has a bug with the SW version verification. You'll stuck here.
Try to create the cluster manually and then import the cluster definition into the GUI tool.

    For example:

    1. mmcrcluster -N nodo1:quorum:nodo1,nodo2:manager:nodo2 -p nodo1 -s nodo2
    Wed Mar 31 03:12:18 CDT 2010: 6027-1664 mmcrcluster: Processing node nodo1
    Wed Mar 31 03:12:19 CDT 2010: 6027-1664 mmcrcluster: Processing node nodo2
    mmcrcluster: Command successfully completed
mmcrcluster: 6027-1254 Warning: Not all nodes have proper GPFS license designations.
Use the mmchlicense command to designate licenses as needed.
mmcrcluster: 6027-1371 Propagating the cluster configuration data to all
affected nodes. This is an asynchronous process.

Maybe you need to fix the licenses to your convenience:

    1. mmchlicense server --accept -N nodo1,nodo2
The following nodes will be designated as possessing GPFS server licenses:
    nodo1
    nodo2
    mmchlicense: Command successfully completed
mmchlicense: 6027-1371 Propagating the cluster configuration data to all
affected nodes. This is an asynchronous process.

Now, try to import the cluster definition on GUI using the IP of one node.

Note: No, it is NOT necessary to configure SSH to work without asking you for a password.

    Regards
