Pinned topic Access profile rule to grant guest access to enable and disable Probes.

‏2010-01-04T15:29:12Z |
Hi All,

Is there possibilty for Guest access to be granted permission for enabling and disabling the the Probe.By default Dp assigns guest with Access profile */*/*?Access=r. Is there a perticular rule that needs to be added to guest profile to grant permission to guest for enabling/disabling Probes.

I believe there should be a command like this. Eg: */*/(debug/*)?Access=w.

Please provide your thoughts.

Hi Tenali, this technote will answer your question:

    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=2362&uid=swg21363889

    Question
Is there a way to specifically allow usergroups to enable/disable the probe on certain objects, without giving them full rights to modify the service?

    Answer
DataPower does not currently support setting usergroup access for only enable/disable probes on an object.
The probe is a property of a service. The current design of Role Based Management (RBM) and UserGroups does not provide the ability to set special Access Profiles for certain properties of services.

The only possible way to allow usergroups to enable/disable the probe would be to grant users access (r+w) to the Service Configuration Resource Types, that is, services like XML Firewall, Multi-Protocol Gateway, Web Service Proxy, etc.
    I hope this helps.

There is an enhancement request pending from our side to do the same. We have been communicated that this functionality is not planned to be implemented in near term. We had a requirement of only enabling "probe" functionality for our testing group for certain services.

Hi, does anybody know, is there any progress with this topic?
We also want to grant access to enable and disable probes for testers.

    Regards,
I am not aware that anything has been done for Probe yet
(and I am the one fixing Probe PMRs ...).

Ashish should be notified on decisions on the ER, his ER number would be helpful.

    Hi Hermann :-)

Does this restriction for enabling / disabling the Probe still apply? Any updates on this in firmware 5?!

    Cheers

    Thank you Hermann :-)

I have now created this RFE for this:

No changes up to and including 7.1.0.x firmware -- seems the ER was not considered for implementation.

    Hey,

I wanted to grant the user the read and write access to a Front side handler. Could you say me the syntax for the access profile. What is it for the Front Side Handler (let the front side handler name be "fsh_sample".

    Let hostname=hostname and Domain Name= domain_name

    Thanks!

    KNR
