Pinned topic ROOT CAPABILITY REQUIRED error after restart DB2

‏2009-10-30T12:26:43Z |
Hi all,

We are running DB2 9.5 FP 3 on AIX 6.1

On one node (lvtestdbsa1) we need to run db2iupdt every time we stop and start DB2. If we don't run the db2iupdt utility we expierence a 'ROOT CAPABILITY REQUIRED' error if we try to connect to a database.

On a second (ugtestdbsa1) node which is installed using the same procedures we don't need to execute db2iupdt again.

The only difference i find in the fixpack installation logs is
ERROR: cat: cannot open /home/db2ipls/sqllib/ctrl/.dbmchk/.hostlist

I attached the fixpack installation logs

Any suggestions how to finfd the problem are very welcome

Thanks in advance

Frank

    This error can be due to limitations of non-root installation. In this case, server authentication can be enabled using db2rfe.

    This error can be due to limitations of non-root installation. In this case, server authentication can be enabled using db2rfe.
    You need to enabel root feature using following steps:
    ~/sqllib/instance/db2rfe ~/sqllib/cfg/db2rfe.cfg

    contents in ~/sqllib/cfg/db2rfe.cfg:
    ###################################
    INSTANCENAME=db2instance
    ENABLE_OS_AUTHENTICATION=YES
    *SVCENAME=db2c_db2instance
    *SVCEPORT=48987 (check for your environment)
    *SVCENAME_TEXT_SEARCH=db2j_db2instance
    ############################################

    I hope it works for you.

    Vishal.
