Pinned topic xldb and eci user-id

‏2009-09-21T13:56:39Z |
AIX 5.3
SERies 6.2.0.1 InterimServiceFix 15
IBM COBOL 2
cobol.cmp 2.0.0.7
cobol.rte 2.0.0.12
Idebug 9213
All customer applications have separate logic into presentation and
business. The fron-end application is a Websphere & CTG that does
attempt to run cobol program on TXSeries region via ECI CALL activating xldb, Is there any way to configure the debugger session for allow to debug
programs or transaction incoming from that user-id ?
In the development environment customer
is trying to use the source level debugger
xldb with an ECI application that works fine if debug runs for .
one development person at time..

He does CDCN cics transaction to set up a trigger for xldb use

CDCN allows you to configure appropriate CICS resource such as
a specific transaction or a specific program.
Since we are using ECI call in our case we can specify TRANSID (it's a
mirror transaction)
and PROGRAM but not the USERID ...
So that is meaning that debugger starts the debugger session every time
when CICS is about to run the
program typed in CDDN pannel and not one specific request that is
incomming from that cics user-id session .

The user-id and password is shipped in ECI call and verified with
success on cics region .
Is there any way to configure the debugger session for allow to debug
programs or transaction incoming from that user-id ?

    Angela,

XLDB is no more a supported debugger, and instead idebug (comes with IBM COBOL) can be used on AIX. Have you looked at this document (applicable for TXSeries V6.2 as well):

    http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=14297293

As CDCN allows you to debug programs initiated only through TERMID, SYSID, PROGRAM, TRANSID, you will NOT be able to specify the programs to be debugged coming from a specific USERID (a good thought though!). Alternatively if you are using the ECI connection (and depending on your client configuration) you can debug programs by specifying the SYSID (a 4-letter code that you can find in the CCIN.out) - This would work for you only if each of the development user has an instance of CUC/CTG. Defining transactions (TRANSID) in CDCN will be difficult and is not feasible if you are using the same mirror transaction for all ECI invocations.

    HTH

    Cheers,
    Hari
