Pinned topic GPFS in RHEL 5.4

‏2009-09-14T10:37:27Z |
We are eager to upgrade to RHEL 5.4 with kernel version 2.6.18-164.el5 (x86_64). When will RHEL 5.4 x86_64 be supported by GPFS ?

5.4 with that kernel version just entered regression test ... may be about 1 month.

Meanwhile we have upgraded all RHEL servers to RHEL 5.4, besides some legacy systems and the servers using GPFS. According to this FAQ, GPFS still has not been tested with RHEL 5.4 x86_64.
Could you please provide a timeline for the future RHEL 5.4 x86_64 support?

This is not an official answer. I have been successfully running GPFS 3.2.1 and 3.3 on RHEL 5.4 kernel 2.6.18-164. Been running for over a month. The servers serves quorum, manager and NSD.

We have kernel panics when trying to use directio with GPFS 3.3 on CentOS (RHEL) 5.4 kernel 2.6.18-164.6.1. We also test earlier 2.6.18-164 kernel with or without PAE.
Tested with both GPFS updates 3.3.0.1 and 3.3.0.2.

As soon as a file is opened or accessed we get consistent kernel panics.
The hardware is old HS20 blades 4gig of ram.

    Would you blame CentOS ?

Must add that we use CNFS to access the files.
Accessing the files from within the gpfs node works fine.

If we set mmchattr -D yes on a file which i accessed through CNFS the node crashes.
We can reset the directio attribute from within the node and we can access the file through CNFS.
